Please share a story that includes a happy memory as an artist and has hugely impacted your artistry.
My happiest moment as an artist is when I won iHeart Radio's Made in California Music Contest for my song and music video "Happy." I got to record an original song of mine with a multi grammy award winning producer at one of the most popular recording studios in Hollywood. On top of that, they loved my song "Happy" so much they asked me to perform at the Made in L.A Music Festival. This was my first festival ever and it was truly the most amazing and self-inspiring experience I've ever had. I started seeing myself and believing in myself more after this, which sparked my entire music career. How do you choose to lead a Happy Healthy life as an artist?
I'm always honest with myself and my feelings and choose gratitude daily. I feel so blessed that I have this gift of songwriting and musical abilities. Who did you learn from to instill those values?
My mother instilled me with good values as a child and honestly, I think a lot of things like self-care and mental health I learned as an adult. For instance I had to really learn to love and accept myself and that was a huge experience for me. I think my faith in God has also helped me live a happy and healthy life. Was it hard work to make sure that you focused on your well-being and not only your art?
No, because my art is what helps me. It's my therapy. Every song I have ever written is like a page from my diary which is why they've all been so easy to write, The words just flow out of me easily and naturally. I always feel better after singing and writing. Was there a turning point in how you decided to put yourself first?
There was. It was after a pretty bad relationship where I lost myself for a while. Shortly after I started singing around my house, or in my car or at the park. I would just sing and freestyle songs about whatever was on my heart and mind. I noticed that once I decided to choose myself and my own happiness and leave that relationship, I was able to heal. Music is what did that for me.
How do you like to promote a healthy lifestyle?
I journal every single day. I practice gratitude. I pray and go to church. I work out every week and surround myself with positive, loving and supportive people. In what ways are you connecting with fans to check in on each other?
In my songs, especially the project I'm working on now I'm completely vulnerable. At the end of the day, fans or artists, we are all people and we go through many of the same struggles. I let my music which healed me, be available to heal others. I like to write affirmations in my songs and speak in first person so that if you sing along you are speaking light and positivity over your own life. Anytime a fan reaches out because they heard about me from a friend or I popped up as a suggested artist on a streaming platform, I always respond and thank them. I'm intentional so they feel my sincerity and I do my best to make them feel special with every interaction. Who checks in on YOU when you need it most?
My mom probably checks in on me the most. I am very thankful to have her in my corner. Changing habits can be hard. Which was the habit that you had to change and how has it changed your life now?
I think I had to change the habit of people-pleasing. That was a hard one for me which I'm still working on. Recognizing this and working on not always putting others needs and wants before my own has been so relieving for me. Now that I'm choosing my peace and saying no when I need to, I feel less anxiety and feel that I can be and do more of what I really want. Is there a song, book, movie, show, or anything that always gives you the motivation you need?
I love Corinne Bailey Rae. She has one lyric that goes, "No time is wasted time, no time." I love that so much. It's a reminder that no matter what happens in life, no time is wasted. I am here for a reason and exactly where I am meant to be. What is the mantra of 2022?! The mantra I made at the beginning of the year was "More Joy." That's the goal for this year. To experience more joy.
