Philadelphia-born and raised record producer & singer-songwriter Radcity, whose real name is Racquel Lee, has been making music professionally for over four years and has produced for artists such as Snoozegod, Khalil, Reed Shannon, Aris Ray, HXE, NAOMA, and more. Her production’s versatility and eclecticism include the fusion of Pop, Jazz, Neo-Soul, R&B, Lofi, Hip-Hop, and Rap. Based in Washington, D.C., her name’s making its mark globally.

Please share a story that includes a happy memory as an artist and has made a huge impact on your artistry.

I received the opportunity to have one of the songs I produced, “Same Heart” by Reed Shannon, featured on Medium back in 2021. One of the first songs I had the pleasure of producing reached over 100,000+ streams the first month independently. That was the first time in my career ever having a blog placement, so it was very exciting to see one of my dreams being a reality

How do you choose to lead a Happy Healthy life as an artist?

Meditation, Pulling Affirmation Cards Daily, and Journaling.

Who did you learn from to instill those values?

I learned from Hindzsight and Evolving Spiritually on YouTube, I’ve been on my spiritual journey for almost 3 years now and I’ve learned to tune into SELF with the help of their informative chats and podcasts.

Was it hard work to make sure that you focused on your well-being and not only your art?

Absolutely! It still is, I try to give myself grace when it comes to taking a moment away from cultivating and working on different projects, trying to set time aside for rest to prevent potentially burning out. It’s still a process for me at times with my schedule being hectic, but spending that time with myself makes it easier to get in alignment with my goals, leading me in the right direction towards my future.

Was there a turning point of how you decided to put yourself first?

Yes, I would say back in 2020 during the Pandemic Lockdown. So many months being confined to one space, not traveling, or having in-person sessions allowed for me to dive deep within myself––to reflect. Being in silence and allowing my thoughts to roam and having the realization that a lot of people/situations in my life occurred for growth to happen. I think a lot of us can relate to often putting our own needs on the back burner at times to satisfy others, even in this industry; Self-Prioritization is a necessity that can’t go unrecognized, especially when it comes to your livelihoodIt was just a confirmation to me that as much as I invested my time into others, I needed to do the same for myself.

How do you like to promote a healthy lifestyle?

I love to observe the little things in life, whether it’s going for a hike on a park trail or even a mountain, or enjoying the peace when I meditate and basking in the silence; it’s important to clear the cloudiness of your thoughts and pay attention to the hidden answers that your body’s trying to tell you. I also love to read books, I’m currently reading “The Power of Now,” by Eckhart Tolle. It’s one of my favorites, I would recommend it to those searching for a new read! Drinking water, exercising ( dancing is my GO-TO!!!! I love it. ), and maintaining a healthy diet and sleep schedule. It’s all a routine for me, consistency is my main key.

In what ways are you connecting with fans to check in on each other?

As much as possible, I respond to messages in my DMs and engage with people, as well as asking about their week or day. The overall focus of my platform is to promote positive vibes and energy, so I usually share information, quotes, and affirmations on my Instagram story for those I feel need a message or a sign that resonates with them. You never know who's looking for one, so whenever. When it feels right, I do it!

Who checks in on YOU when you need it most?

Honestly? My mom. Every time we talk on the phone or in person, she helps me navigate through whatever's burdening me at the time and helps make me more clear. Conversations with her can last for hours, and having a safe space to share things with her is always refreshing. I LOVE her, she’s my heart. <3

Changing habits can be hard. Which was the habit that you had to change and how it's changed your life now?

The habit I'm currently actively changing is getting out of my own way. I can sometimes be overly critical of myself when I'm trying to provide the best content for my fans on my platform. During the last few years, I've learned that it's okay to not have the destination figured out, but to enjoy the journey and process along the way.

Is there a song, book, movie, show, or anything that always gives you the motivation you need?

I’m really big on Jazz and R&B music, so listening to anything from Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, Micki Miller, or Musiq Soulchild soothes my soul.

What is the mantra of 2022?!

“I am Ready and Determined.” That’s actually what the RAD in my name stands for, the city part describes the fact that I’m originally from Philadelphia—making me a city kid.

Give all the inside scoop on your latest project!

Tre Prada’s new single “Kiss Myself” drops on May 13th, the song has been produced by me and I am excited for you all to listen to it. I’m looking forward to sharing multiple collaborative albums this year, endless releases from other artists are on the way as well. Stay tuned for more.
