Where are you from and how did you get started? I am originally from Chicago - Oakland south side of Chicago I got my start in music with a rock band that was doing covers in my 8th grade class so i took my graduation money from grammar and buy electric guitar and amp at 13 years old and bought the packet of electric guitar and amp and then started finding artists i like - then learned i can write songs myself. and discovered this myself and it was so cool - recently started Now I live in California - I live in Venice. My partner and I have a bungalow 4 blocks from the beach - I love living near the beach!! How do you manage your self-care as an artist? I get lucky living here in Ca - helped with different eating habits - no meat light on the dairy helps overall with performance daily and energy level. Once you sing and sing live you realize it's a workout. Everything needs to work together to be able to sound good. you want to have energy to sound good. Different eating habits to have the right type of energy to perform.
I am a singer/ songwriter really focused on vocals so I have to take care of myself.
In the morning i take an hour walk with no phone - i call it my thinking walk me being away from everything and to prepare myself for whatever will come that day.
Preparing for the performance I drink only water and diet healthy and can’t talk a lot the day of show.
Daily no phone time - read for an hour too before i start my day I wake up at 5:30am which allows me time for all of this. Do you have new releases or upcoming shows you would like to share? A week ago I released a new song called Im Losing Myself my single from an album called Handsome Woman … I will be releasing a song every month until march of next year - building up my catalog before i tour What is challenging with wellness and/ or mental health as a musical artist? Sometimes the best ideas are the most natural ideas. My top performance is when I’m really taking care of myself and more on schedule. Make a point to remind myself that when I’m the healthiest I create the best form of art. I’m an extrovert so my natural default is let's go, but when I take a step back I see my best work come to life. Tell us about your mission as an artist! My mission as a person, not just a musician, is that life is short and I gotta be me and get things done. Be myself and be a good person and from there you attract those things that are meant to be.
