JOINING KC JOHNS

With powerhouse pipes that take you on a whiskey-soaked jaunt to your favorite honky-tonk in the absolute best way possible, KC’s music is as infectious and dynamic as she is.

Think Miranda Lambert meets Sheryl Crow with a touch of Brandi Carlisle, and you’ve got an artist with a voice all her own, tied tight around songs that make you feel like you’ve known her forever.

With deep roots in the Blues capital of the world, KC grew up in Memphis, where she was baptized in soul and fell hard for the stage, the spotlight, and songs that make the world go ’round.

“Music has always been that one thing in my life that digs up a smile when I feel like I’m buried under the rest of ‘life,'” says KC. “I want other people to feel the same way.”

Having discovered her stage legs young, KC jumped feet first into this business called music, performing everywhere from Dollywood, where she was featured in Dolly Parton’s “Christmas Coat of Many Colors,” to cruise ships around the world. After performing in ports throughout the Atlantic, the Caribbean, and everywhere in between, she made her way up the mainstream music ladder, opening for artists like Luke Bryan, Chris Young, Randy Houser, and Trailer Choir.

2021 is the continuation of her page-turner of a story, with the release of three new singles, co-written and produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer and songwriter Billy Smiley (WhiteHeart, Johnny Cash, and Petra).

With the music sensibility of Otis Redding, the raw stylings of Chris Stapleton, and the rock vibe of Led Zeppelin, each song is an audible shot of your libation of choice—they take your breath away, feel good going down, and leave you wanting more.

Please share a story that includes a happy memory as an artist and has made a huge impact on your artistry. The happiest memory that I can think of was when we put on my album release in Nashville at AJ's. I was in fear that not many people would show up, but I was in joyful tears that the room was packed with ppl that I love and ppl that have supported the album. It makes me happy that ppl still want to hear original music from independent artists. This impacted me immensely and has keep me going to release more music! How do you choose to lead a Happy Healthy life as an artist? Being a workaholic, like myself, I think it's very important to take time for yourself. Sometimes I forget that we are allowed to put ourselves first. I have a habit of putting others before me in a ton of situations and not considering how it may affect me. I just have to remind myself that if I'm at my best or feeling at my best, the show will be better and I feel as though people can see that. Who did you learn from to instill those values? Definitely my mom. She's very smart about taking time to exercise, going to get a facial or taking ten minutes in the morning to make her healthy smoothie. She's super inspiring as she's the hardest working person I know. Was it hard work to make sure that you focused on your well-being and not only your art? It's been very hard for me. The first thing I do in the mornings is check my emails and start working. I've had to organize my schedule to block out those "me" times. Was there a turning point of how you decided to put yourself first? I don't think there's been a specific point - honestly it's just something I have to work on and have been working on, it takes time and patience to do anything. How do you like to promote a healthy lifestyle? I make sure to exercise regularly, try not to eat fast food when I'm out on the road and take at least a few minutes a day for me when I can. It's helped my body, mind and soul in more ways than none. In what ways are you connecting with fans to check in on each other? I use social media a ton to connect, that's the best way for this modern world. Who checks in on YOU when you need it most? I have a wonderful team and chat with them everyday, but my family keeps in check regularly. Changing habits can be hard. Which was the habit that you had to change and how it's changed your life now? My biggest habit was putting others' feelings before mine, I've definitely had to work on checking in with my feelings, then checking on someone else's, cause If I'm not happy first, how can we make others happy when they're down? Is there a song, book, movie, show, or anything that always gives you the motivation you need? I love reading Neil Strauss books. He writes rock documentaries, and it gives me so much motivation to read about life out on the road and how to enjoy staying in the present. What is the mantra of 2022?! BE PRESENT. My schedule this year has been so back to back that I'm constantly reminding myself to stay in each moment to enjoy a little piece of it. Give all the inside scoop on your latest project! My Thunder album is released on all platforms, and now we're in the studio working on a new album. We will more than likely release it the same way, singles first, then the album. We want to thank you for joining us here and are so excited about what we see from you next! Leave us with your socials!!
