I spend a lot of time *TRYING* to meditate. I also try to take as much time needed for a project which includes quiet time or time to just be groggy Who did you learn from to instill those values?
That's something I started doing. I think I had some standard of beauty that said in order to be beautiful you must be in a lot of pain so before photoshoots/ shows I was anticipating pain so I tried my best to value not being in pain. I also had an uncle named Greg who was an opera singer, he came over one day when I didn't go to school he kept fussing at me about how come I'm not at school and he said i needed to take a bath because I stick and I guess he said something about it again and he asked why don't i want to take a bath and i just said "it's stay home and stink day" lol he never let me live that down lol Was it hard work to make sure that you focused on your well-being and not only your art?
Yes, that's just something I picked up on after my experiences as a *PROFESSINAL* artist. While you're training or singing at church or school everything is put up for you. But in the real world sometimes people are having mental problems they want to take out on you or are being very toxic.
I knew I was never going to stop doing what you love so I just made it a ritual. Also with my family... I gotta take time to myself because they bother ALL DAY EVEN WHILE I'M ON STAGE! Was there a turning point in how you decided to put yourself first?
Yes, I had a choreographer and started making friends with his group of people. They started over reacting to every little thing I did just because I was a singer. In fact one of them sent me hate messages because she thought I moved her to the bottom of my top 8 (on myspace) . Keep in mind I saw these people like twice or sometimes 3 times a week. Also I had a traumatic event that happened and I put on 5 pounds and no one wanted to be my friend. Like even some of these people had the ability to help me or even just pray for me and they all flat out refused. I want to be clear that everyone in my field does not act this way and people hear stories like these and assume everyone in the music business acts like that. but let's be honest most of those people were amature wannabes and wish they could be. I don't mean it as an insult but I say that to say everyone in this field is not shallow like that. Those people were... and they weren't all professionals How do you like to promote a healthy lifestyle?
I'm not sure if promotion is the right word so much as `` live by it. I do enjoy time for me to think to myself and i also practice my religion often In what ways are you connecting with fans to check in on each other?
Haha I LOVE to connect on instagram however I have an emailing list, there i keep everyone up to date on my upcoming tour dates music photoshoots and magazine write ups Who checks in on YOU when you need it most?
That is hard to say! Yesterday when I spoke to my publicist I was thinking I guess... negatively about a project I have coming up and then she gave me this pep talk, I not only am going to do what we talked about but 3 more! Changing habits can be hard. Which was the habit that you had to change and how has it changed your life now?
